Azeri analyst: Ahmadinejad’s remarks negated double-standard traits

Baku, May 8, IRNA – An Azeri political analyst said the recent remarks of Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in the United Nations negated the political custom of double-standard treatment of issues being used by certain countries.
Serdar Jalaloghlou said Ahamdinejad’s remarks were of significant importance because they targeted such mannerism.
In his exclusive interview with IRNA, he also said, based on this principle, the US and a number of other western countries accused Iran of probable development of nuclear arms while themselves produced and owned such a big atomic arsenal which is a potential threat to the whole humanity.
Jalaloghlou, who is the leader of Azerbaijan’s Democratic Party and is quite well-known in the Azeri political circles, described as only just and fair what the Iranian president suggested in the United Nations when talking about nuclear disarmament without exercising any double-standard criteria.
The Azeri politician also referred to the possession and stockpiling of nuclear arms by Israel, highlighting the fact that no supervision and monitoring was exercised over the Zionist regime’s nuclear arsenal.
He believed the same lack of sufficient international monitoring was also true with the nuclear activities and arsenals owned by the US, Russia and a number of other world countries.
Commenting on the act of representatives of France and Britain in quitting the UN session during Ahmadinejad’s speech, Jalaloghlou pointed to the fact that these two countries owned both nuclear arms and veto rights in the UN, stressing that their act served the aim of maintaining these so-called advantages.
The Azeri political analyst further believed that Iran’s efforts to achieve nuclear technology for peaceful purposes was quite a natural act since the world was facing diminishing sources of energy./end
