United Nations, New York, May 8, IRNA – A former UN official wished that the world could materialize Iran’s motto of “nuclear energy for all, nuclear bomb for no one.”
Talking to IRNA, UN deputy secretary-general for nuclear affairs Jayantha Dhanapala underlined the need for paying due attention to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s 11 proposals to the NPT review conference along with other existing proposals.
All Mideast states, except the Zionist regime, are signatories to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) he said, stressing the importance of encouraging Israel to join other signatories to the NPT.
He reiterated that several regional states have announced their readiness to hold conferences or consult with other on the issue.
All countries are interested in a Mideast free from any nuclear armament, the UN ex-official said.
