Pakistani MP: Int’l community should react to US nuclear threat against Iran

Islamabad, May 8, IRNA – A Pakistani MP denouncing US hegemonic behavior in the region urged the international community to react to US nuclear threats against Iran.
In an interview with IRNA Friday evening A’azam Hayat Khan added, “In accordance with the strategy declared by the US president, even if that country would be invaded using microbiological or chemical weapons by its non-nuclear rivals, Washington would not resort to nuclear weapons against them. But in the case of Iran and North Korea, they would do so even if there is no attack, while they confess they cannot surely comprehend the nature of Iran’s real nuclear intentions.”
Hayat Khan said, “The Americans tried hard during the past five years to achieve an international consensus against Iran, but the majority of the world countries know that by highlighting the Iran threat Washington is in fact after justifying its unilateral foreign policy in other parts of the world and imposing it against the other players at the world scene.”
He emphasized, “Obama’s viewpoints about the international affairs have changed a lot during the course of the past year and he can no longer claim to be a harbinger of international peace and stability.”
The representative of the Pakistan National Parliament reiterated, “In accordance with the US Nuclear Doctrine, they emphasize that Washington is after safeguarding the international peace and security, as well as decreasing the volume of the nuclear weapons and eventually reach a total nuclear disarmament.
"But those are not frank stands and proof for that is the US led invasion against Iraq, the military occupation of Afghanistan, and the unlimited support of Washington for Israel.”
He reiterated, “Threatening Iran constantly and now adding the nuclear attack threat to them proves that the United States is not committed to its international responsibilities and the peace loving mottos are baseless since the US is the real enemy of the international peace and security.”
Hayat Khan referring to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s many times repeated emphases over the peaceful nature of its nuclear facilities, emphasized, “Both ElBaradei and Amano have clearly confirmed the point” adding, “The Americans tried at a point to link Iran’s nuclear issue with Iranophobia matter in order to introduce Tehran’s nuclear stands as non-peaceful, but they failed in achieving the objectives of that effort and now they have resorted to threatening Iran with nuclear weapons.”
He added, “That is while the international society’s awareness has reached a level now to realize that the peaceful nuclear activities of Iran differ with those of the North Korea.”
A number of western countries are illegally trying to impose a new set of sanctions against Iran.
The UN Security Council has passed three illegal anti-Iranian resolutions.
The 2006 and 2007 resolutions were ratified unanimously and the third resolution that was ratified on March 3rd, 2008 was passed with 14 positive and one neutral vote of Indonesia.
Now the United States and a few western countries that quite irrationally call themselves the international community are launching another illegal effort that they claim is aimed at harnessing the nuclear program of Iran, which is obviously peaceful.
They have distributed the draft of their new set of sanctions among the permanent UN Security Council members.
China and Russia have always been opposed to the unilateral US and a few EU countries’ stands against Iran, having been emphasizing that only dialogue and constructive interactions can solve the nuclear problems with Iran.
Yet, these few countries, under the name of the international community, including the United States, Britain, France and Germany, imposing their will, try to politicize the technical discussions related to Iran’s nuclear program in order to impose illegal pressure against the Islamic Republic of Iran to abandon its natural rights that are stated in the text of the NPT./end
