SCHOLARS CONVERGE IN TURKEY FOR INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON MUSLIM PHILOSOPHER

CORUM (A.A) - 07.05.2010 - Scholars and researchers from around the world gathered on Friday in an international symposium on Hajji Bektash Wali, a renowned Islamic mystic, humanist and philosopher of the 13th century.
Nearly 80 respected representatives from the academia from Turkey, the United States, Albania, Kazakhstan, Germany, Kosovo and Macedonia are participating in the three-day event, "Wisdom and Message of Peace from Khorasan to the Balkans: Hajji Bektash Wali".   
Hajji Bektash Wali is the eponym of the Bektashi Sufi order and he is considered as one of the principal teachers of Alevism. 
He is also a renowned figure in the history and culture of both Ottoman Empire and modern day Turkey.
