National Rice Reserve to be established soon
(KPL) The Government is planning to establish the National Rice Reserve soon in order to ensure that the local people will have sufficient rice in the months and years ahead, according to the cabinet meeting held last month.
The Government will allocate a portion of the budget to buy rice directly from farmers throughout the country and it will take the step to improve therunning of the state-enterprise on foodstuff.
A unit will also be established to control the prices of consumer goodsand basic necessities.
Presently, the Government has decided to release credit loans valued at 400 billion kip to the cultivation sector. This is specially for livestockbreeding and this season's rice crop.
In addition, Government is also promoting foreign investment in the food production sectors in Laos by providing incentives in the form of exemptionof profit tax, income tax and export tax.
