Defence to update pay system: govt

Defence is moving to update its complex personnel management system including its
problematic pay system.
Defence Personnel Minister Alan Griffin said a $16-million contract has been signed
with UXC Limited to provide a technical update.
"Defence will be undertaking a technical refresh project, to update the technology
platform supporting Defence's Human Resources Management System, which will also
involve the integration of Defence's Reserve payment system," he said in a
statement.
Mr Griffin said this project would address technology risks associated with the
systems.
UXC would start work on the project in May 2010 with work expected to be finished in
2012.
The project includes an early replacement of the outdated payment system in July 2011.
