"Mr President, let us review Hindu-American relations!"
Toyako (Japan), July 9 (PTI) U.S. President George W.
Bush is not new to committing gaffes but it appears to have rubbed on his White House staffers with Prime MinisterManmohan Singh himself becoming a victim.
A transcript issued by the White House Press Secretary office quoted Singh talking about the opportunity he had with Bush at their meeting on the sidelines of the G-8 summit toreview "Hindu-American relations".
"Mr. President, it is a great opportunity for me to once again meet you and to review with you the state of Hindu-American relations" was the opening line in Singh's interaction with the press after his 50-minute meeting withBush at Windsor Hotel Toya Resort and Spa.
The apparent transcribing error where a wrong word was put in the mouth of Singh after mistaking Indo for "Hindu" was later corrected by the Press Office and a new version of the transcript was released putting on record what the Prime Minister had actually said. PTI
