SPEAKER MEETS IMF RESIDENT REPRESENTATIVE
Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ D.Demberel, Parliamentary Speaker received Monday Mr Parmeshwar Ramlogan, the Resident Representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Mongolia to exchange views on bilateral relations and cooperation.
Underlining the Mongolian Government's obligation not to exceed the general government budget deficit at five percent of GDP in accordance with a program adjusted with the IMF, and to create an accumulation by centralizing the revenue exceeded from the budget into a special fund, Mr Parmeshwar Ramlogan expressed his position on government's recent presentation a bill to amend the Law on Budget of Mongolia for 2010 to parliament.
“Parliament is carrying out a policy not to increase the budget expenditure and reduce social care allowances,” Mr Demberel emphasized. He said parliament is pursuing a principle not to exceed the budget deficit at the appropriate level agreed with the IMF.
At the meeting, IMF Mongolia Country Office proposed to organize a seminar on inflation and monetary policy in conjunction with parliament.
The suggestion was warmly welcomed by the Parliamentary Speaker.
