Al-Kurshumi meets IFC delegation
SANA'A, July 10 (Saba) – Minister of Public Works Roads Omer al-Kurshumi has met with a delegation from the International Finance Corporation IFC currently visiting Yemen to follow up the administrative reform program and strengthen the partnership betweenYemen and the IFC.
The meeting dealt with mechanisms to ease getting construction licenses as well as necessary requirements such as constructiondesign making and good supervision to have safe buildings.
The meeting also discussed the possibility of providing IFC support to the project of developing the ministry of Public Works andRoads.
Al-Kurshumi reviewed steps the ministry has taken to evaluate the performance to approve a future vision. He said the ministry has already issued the law of construction, in addition to the participation along with the Arab League member states in settingout common codes for construction in the Arab World.
Furthermore, the ministry has issued special guides for design and supervision and building specifications that ensure healthy buildings.Head of the IFC delegation Thomas Mollier said the IFC will continute to support reform programs in Yemen, appreciating the real steps Yemen has taken to carry out comprehensive reforms invarious sectors.
Mollier said the IFC is keen to expand its partnership with Yemen and that all what Yemen is doing regarding reforms is deemed anencouraging move to do so.
