YEMEN, U.S. IN TRADE TALKS

WASHINGTON, May 01 (Saba) - Minister of Industry and Trade Yahya
al-Mutawakil has met in Washington with the U.S. Trade
Representative Ron Kirk.

The meeting discussed the bilateral relationship and cooperation
under the Obama administration.

At the meeting, al-Mutawakil also briefed the U.S. official on
outlines of Yemen's bid for joining the World Trade Organization at
the levels of bilateral and multilateral negotiations.

He appreciated the U.S. support for Yemen to join the organization,
saying that Yemen is looking forward to further flexibility over
requirements for market access of goods.

Kirk hailed the steps taken within Yemen's efforts for the
accession, expressing gladness over Yemen-U.S. negotiations over it.
