Persian Gulf Day ceremony held on Kish Island

KISH, May 1 (MNA) -- President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says Iran is one of the most powerful, respected, and civilized nations in the world.
He made the remarks during a ceremony to commemorate Iran’s National Persian Gulf Day held on Friday on Kish Island.
“Today, Iran is one of the most powerful and respected nations in the world and will play a pivotal role in the future of the world,” he said.
“When we observe Persian Gulf Day, we are telling the world about this land’s great history and civilization, which flourished even more after the advent of Islam,” he noted.
He went on to say that a civilization can make progress only when it can win hearts, “but when a civilization relies on weapons and deception to achieve its goals, it is doomed to extinction.”
Designating a day as National Persian Gulf Day is a measure meant to bring out the truth and present a true image of Iranian history and identity, Ahmadinejad stated.
The conflict is not over the name of a geographical place but is over the unjust system governing the world, he said.
“Our conflict with the global arrogance is over culture and civilization,” he explained.
They are afraid of the realization of the potential hidden in the cultures and civilizations of this region, he stated.
“The main issue is returning the world to the rule of humanity, culture, and justice,” he added.
