Former German Chancellor Schroeder hails Saudi King's
Berlin, July 10, SPA -- Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder has praised the major and positive role of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, and said he has successfully attained great achievements and enabled the Kingdom of Saudi Arabiato earn a good reputation at the international arena.
In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on the occasion of the third anniversary for the ascendance to the throne by King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Schroeder described the King as "the unique Arab and Muslim leader who the Muslims are in need of." He pointed out to his dynamic role as regards unifying ranks of theMuslims and his assistance to the Muslim countries.
The former German Chancellor lauded the Saudi-German relations anddescribed them as "strong ties".
He noted that the visit of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz to Berlin in 2001 and his recent visit in 2007 provide a clear evidence of thestrength of the Saudi- German relations.
Underlining the importance of further cementing Saudi-German relations, Schroeder said most of the German politicians look forstrong relations with the Kingdom in all domains.
On his part, Saudi ambassador to Germany Dr Osama Shabukshi hailed the progress attained in the era of King Abdullah binAbdulaziz.
He said industrial cities and the biggest international financial market were established in addition to modern universities like KingAbdullah University for sciences and technology.
Shubukshi praised the keenness of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz on dialogue inside the Kingdom and with followers of the heavenlyreligions.
On his part, German minister of economy Micheal Glos described KingAbdullah as the man of economy and economic initiatives.
He noted that during the recent Jeddah Energy Meeting recently, he had felt the concern of the Saudi Monarch about the adverse impact ofthe increase of the oil prices on the poor nations.
The initiative of King Abdullah to grant soft loans to the poor nations provides a clear evidence to the concern of Riyadh about thesufferings of the poor nations.
The German minister of economy described King Abdullah as the unique personality and said the King is a political and economic partner ofGermany.
Meanwhile, Essam al-Attar, the honorary director of the Islamiccenter in Aachen city said King Abdullah is a unique Muslim leader.
He lauded his efforts in the assistance of the Muslim world.
The Kingdom, since the era of the late King Abdulaziz, has been working for the service of Islam and Muslims, he added.--SPA
