Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj and his spouse Kh.Bolormaa visited April 29 some sites of Chinese historical and cultural heritages, during the state visit to the People's Republic of China.
The Beijing's White's Cloud Temple, one of the Daoist temples in China, contains a lot of cultural heritages related to not only Chinese history but also to Mongolian history. This temple holds an original copy of an order by Chingis Khaan to a King of Manchu.
The same day, Elbegdorj visited the National Art Museum of China. The museum, one of the largest of its kind in the country, has been founded dedicated to the collection, research and exhibitions of modern and contemporary artis. The museum's building covers more than 18,000 square meters with 17 exhibition halls from the first to the fifth floor housing some 100,000 pieces of various collections. The most of these are creations belonging to the era of establishment of new China.
Works of Chinese outstanding painters are displayed such as Ren Bonian, Wu Changshuo, Huang Binhong, Qi Baishi, Xu Beihong, Jiang Zhaohe, Situ Qiao, Li Keran, Wu Zuoren, Ye Qianyu, Luo Gongliu and Wu Guanzhong are others. The museum also collects hundreds of foreign works, for example, German collectors Mr and Mrs Ludwig donated 117 pieces of foreign works in 1999, including four oil paintings by Picasso.
The robust development of the museum benefits greatly from the support of the Central government and the direct leadership of the Ministry of Culture. The Central government established a special collection fund, which laid a foundation for the museum's collection of precious works.
Mongolia's State Head met with a Chinese famous painter Liu Dawei who draws paintings about Mongolian living. He used to live in Cninese Inner Mongolia. Now he has been working as a head of China's Confederation of Painters.
