BTN PROVIDES RP2.2 BILLION FOR EARTHQUAKE-RAVAGED SCHOOL BUILDINGS

Jakarta, July 9 (ANTARA) - Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN) has prepared Rp2.2 billion for the rehabilitation of school buildings in Central Java ravaged by a strong earthquake recently.

"This move is part of the bank's policy of realizing its care for the fate of the people and their environment," BTN Director Iqbal Latanro said in Jakarta on Wednesday.

The assistance is a continuation of what the bank had done for school buildings in the region through the Nurani Dunia Foundation.

Rp. 100 million in aid was handed over by BTN for the reconstruction of an elementary school SDN 01 in Kadilanggon, Klaten, Central Java.

The aid was handed by Imam B. Prasodjo, director ofthe Nurani Dunia Foundation.

Iqbal Latanro said that the aid given to the foundation is a social activity of BTN and at the same time implementing BTN's fifth mission of caring for the interest of the local people and their environment.
