MICHELLE LIM MAY FACE FIVE YEARS IN JAIL

Batam, July 9 (ANTARA) - A senior editor of a Singapore paper Michelle Lim Hong Eng is facing five years in jail for causing the death of an Indonesian domestic helper after the motorcycle driven by her employer was hit by the car driven by Michelle (70).

The public prosecutor said the accused as a driver was not careful enough, Channel News Asia was quoted as saying on Tuesday.

Michelle is an executive editor with Shin Min daily.

The fatal accident took place on Christmas Eve in 2006 at the Dunearn-Whitley traffic light juction in Singapore.

The motorcyclist is an employer, and the woman riding behind him is his Indonesian domestic helpterThe motorist sustained serious injuries, while his domestic helpter (24) was killed.

Michelle, her lawyer said, did not abandon the crime scene.

The judge will hand down his verdict on July 15.

CNA reported that Michelle's imprisonment may be more than five years.
