VOLUME OF RI'S TIN INGOT EXPORTS DOWN 23.6 PCT IN JUNE
Jakarta, July 8 (ANTARA) - Indonesia's tin ingot exports declined 23.6 percent from 7,150 tons in May to 5,461 tons in June, the Trade Ministry's director for mining and industrial product exports, Hartojo Agus Tjahjono, said here on Tuesday.
He said Indonesia's tin exports in June were only shipped to Singapore and Malaysia which received 4,870 and 591 tons respectively.
The fall in Indonesia's tin ingot exports was also reflected in the export value which stood at US$116.834 million in June. In May the value of the tin exports increased from US$155.35 million in April to US$160.75 million.
In volume, the tin exports in May fell 9 percent from 7,857.92 tons in April to 7,150 tons.
Indonesia's total tin exports in the January-June period were 46,321.54 tons worth US$863.25 million.
The January-June export value almost reached the value of Indonesia's total tin exports in 2007 which stood at over one billion dollars, he said.
The Indonesian government has issued a regulation which tightens the procedures for the export of the commodity. Tin ingot exports can only be carried out by companies offically registered as tin exporters.
