RI TO REMIND ADVANCED NATIONS ABOUT BALI ROAD MAP

Kuala Lumpur, July 8 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said Indonesia would remind the developed nations about the Bali Road Map consensus when he attends the G-8 summit in Japan on Wednesday.

"I will remind all parties about our common consensus on the Bali Road Map . I will tell both developing and developed nations to carry out their common obligations based on the responsive capability principle," the President said on the sidelines of his visit here on Tuesday.

The Bali Road Map consensus was reached during the United Nations Convention on Climate Change in Bali last December as part of world efforts to preserve the global environment.

President Yudhoyono will attend and be one of the speakers at the G-8 (group of eight) to be held at the Windsor Hotel, Toyako, Hokkaido, Japan, on July 9, 2008.

Previsouly, Presidential Spokesman Dino Patti Djalal said that the Hokkaido forum was proposed by France and Britain.

He said that Japan in its capacity as the host decided to invite members of the developing eight (D-8), namely Brazil, china, India, Mexico, South Africa, Indonesia, Australia and South Korea, apart from the G-8 members: Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, Britain and the United States.

President Yudhoyono said that he would call on G-8 countries to also discuss the global energy and food crises.

The president had written to Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda in the latter's capacity as the G-8 host asking him to include food security on the G-8 summit's agenda.
