UN CHIEF TO MEET INDONESIAN PRESIDENT IN HOKKAIDO

Tokyo, July 8 (ANTARA) - A number of foreign government leaders and the United Nations chief have expressed their intention to meet with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono during the G8 Summit to be held on July 9 near Lake Toya (Toyako), Hokkaido, Japan, an Indonesian official said.

Indonesian Deputy Ambassador to Japan Ronny P Yuliantoro said in Sapporo, on Tuesday, United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon had expressed his intention to meet President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on the sidelines of the summit.

In addition to Ban Ki-Moon, World Bank President Robert Zoellick, Mexican President Felipe Calderon Hinojosa and Indian Prime Minister Dr Hanmohan Singh were reported to have the same agenda to meet with the Indonesian president.

South Korean President Lee Myung-Bak and Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd also wanted to have a private meeting with Yudhoyono.

"A series of bilateral meetings are being worked out, as President Yudhoyono also has a working agenda during the summit in Hokkaido later," Ronny said.

The president and his entourage are expected to arrive in Hokkaido at about 20:00 local time on Tuesday.
