1st VP call for developing Iran-Uzbekistan ties

Tehran, April 27, IRNA -- First Vice-President Mohammad Reza Rahimi on Monday called for all-out development of political ties between Iran and Uzbekistan.
In a meeting with the Uzbek envoy in Tehran, Elham Akramov, Rahimi added that Iran has no problem in promoting bilateral ties.
Referring to the government’s plans to invest in the railway project to link Iran, China and Turkey, he added that the project will also benefit the brotherly and friendly Uzbek nation.
Rahimi said that Iran favors friendly ties with all the countries and the Muslim states in particular.
"Iran-Uzbekistan political ties should not undermined by peripheral issues."
The Uzbek envoy, for his part, recalled that excellent agreements have been signed by the officials of the two countries.
He hoped that the agreements would be implemented soon./end
