Symposium highlights OIC role in supporting Muslim communities

Seoul, July 07, SPA -- The first symposium on Muslim minorities in Asia, was organized last weekend in Seoul by the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) in coordination with the Federation of Korean Muslims. It was entitled 'Challenges & Prospects in aMulti-Cultural Society'.

Prof. Dr. Jamil Lee Heesoo, Representative of the Korean Muslim Federation, expressed the delight of the Muslim community in the Republic of Korea for convening of the Symposium in the South Koreancapital.

He stated that the Federation wishes that South Korea boosts itsrelations with the Muslim Ummah (nation).

Prof. Dr. Heesoo deplored the 'negative stereotyping of Muslims and even of Islam in significant segments of Asian society, and described this trend as" one of the most formidable obstacles to harmonious relations between the two civilizations.'
