HUNGER STRIKE STOPPED


Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ Protesters officially stopped Thursday a hunger strike after having reached an agreement with a working group from parliament.
The working group held talks with the hunger strike leaders from Civil Movement Demanding Performance of Pre-Election Promises, Independence Alliance, My Mongolian Land Movement, Mational Soyombo Movement, Renovation Movement, and National Xas Movement reaching the agreement on concrete issues.
The parties confirmed the mutual agreement by signing a Memorandum.
The protesters announced April 8 a hunger strike demanding parliament to make a decision on conducting a referendum in accordance with the Constitution Article 25.1.16 that stipulates "...to hold national referendums, to verify the validity of a referendum in which the majority of eligible citizens has taken parts, and to consider the question which has obtained a majority vote as decided".
