AA TO TAKE OVER ROTATING OANA PRESIDENCY IN NOVEMBER

SEOUL (A.A) - 22.04.2010 - Anadolu News Agency (AA) will take over the rotating presidency of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) at the OANA General Assembly to be held in Turkey in November, AA Director-General Hilmi Bengi said on Thursday.
Speaking at the OANA Summit Congress held in Seoul, South Korea, Bengi invited all executives of member news agencies to Istanbul, Turkey's largest city and the 2010 European Culture of Capital, that would host the OANA event.
The OANA members total 40 news agencies from 33 countries in the Asia Pacific region, including Anadolu Agency (Turkey), KYODO (Japan), XINHUA (China), YONHAP (Korea), IRNA (Iran), BERNAMA (Malaysia), PTI (India), Itar-Tass (Rusia), Azertac (Ajerbaijan) and ANTARA (Indonesia).
In his speech, Bengi gave information about AA's activities, saying, "there is a growing media market in Turkey and we have been facing challenges in this sector which also took advantage of 3G mobile phone technology launched in Turkey last year. AA has been exerting great efforts to diversify its output and use latest technologies in order to cope with recent global economic crisis and these challenges."
"We have felt effects of the crisis less than other companies in Turkish media thanks to our training activities and our efforts for keeping pace with technology," Bengi said.
