Unethical use of new human achievements, serious threat: IRNA chief

Beijing, April 22, IRNA – IRNA Managing Director Ali-Akbar Javan-Fekr Thursday in Seoul said that incorrect, unethical and profit-seeking use of new human achievements is a serious threat against humanity.
He made the remarks while addressing the Summit Congress of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) opened in the South Korean capital this morning.
All news agencies are shouldered with great and sensitive responsibility towards mankind, he said, adding that the significant and rapid progress in the areas of communications and mass media has made the task more important.
He reiterated that the main asset of all news agencies is public confidence, underlining the need for safeguarding such an asset.
He also called for safeguarding human civilizations and cultures which have transferred from generations to generations.
Elsewhere in his speech, Javan-Fekr condemned unethical behaviors by certain norm-breaking and colonial governments to distort the natural flow of news and information.
IRNA chief arrived in Seoul on Wednesday to participate in the OANA meeting.
Representatives from some 45 news agencies from 33 countries are participating in the event which is to end on April 24./end
