President Ahmadinejad starts African tour

Tehran, April 22, IRNA - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad left Tehran Thursday morning for a two-nation African tour which will take him to Zimbabwe and Uganda.
Heading a high-ranking politico-economic delegation, the Iranian President was seen off at the airport by the Supreme Leader’s Advisor Ali-Akbar Velayati and several other officials of the country.
President Ahmadinejad’s three-day visit is taking place upon invitation from his Zimbabwean and Ugandan counterparts Robert Mugabe and Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, respectively.
On the first leg of his two-nation tour, President Ahmadinejad is to arrive in Harare, Zimbabwe, where he is to review issues of mutual interest as well as the latest regional and international developments with President Mugabe.
A number of agreements on trade and economic cooperation are expected to be signed during President Ahmadinejad’s two-nation tour./end
