Italy envoy: Arrest of Iranian reporter, judicial matter

Tehran, April 22, IRNA -- Italian Ambassador to Iran Alberto Bradanini said on Wednesday that his government was unaware of Iranian reporter's arrest and it is a judicial matter.

Bradanini who had come to the parliament made the remarks in a meeting with Chairman of Majlis Commission on National Security and Foreign Policy Alaeddin Boroujerdi.

The ambassador said the Italian government is completely unaware of the detention of IRIB reporter Hamid Masouminejad and another Iranian residing in Rome named Ali Damirchilou.

The judicial system in Italy works independently as the Iranian Judiciary, he said adding that his country is willing to solve the problem as soon as possible.

He also expressed hope the new strides would be taken to promote Tehran-Rome ties.

Boroujerdi expressed concern about arrest of Iranian reporter in Italy and said the Islamic Republic of Iran expects Italy to help release them soon.

He further referred to Iran-Italy cordial ties which should not be marred by the trivial matters and propaganda./end
