IRNA chief in Seoul for OANA summit congress

Beijing, April 22, IRNA - IRNA’s Managing Director Ali Akbar Javanfekr arrived in Seoul, South Korea, to participate in the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) Summit Congress on Wednesday.

A three-day summit of heads of news agencies in the Asia-Pacific region will begin in Seoul on Thursday.

IRNA’s managing director is to deliver a speech and read the message of Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini in the event.

Javanfeker is scheduled to hold talks with several participating news agencies managers on issues of mutual interests.

The OANA Summit Congress will end on April 24.

Some 45 news agencies from 33 countries are participating in the event.

OANA was formed in 1961 upon the initiative of UNESCO to secure direct and free exchange of news among the news agencies of a region inhabited by more than half of the world's population./end
