TURKISH AUTOMOTIVE MARKET GROWS 7.2% IN JAN.-MAR. 2010

ISTANBUL (A.A) - 21.04.2010 - Total market in the Turkish automotive industry grew by 7.2 percent in the period of January-March 2010 over to the same period last year.
A statement by the Association of Automotive Industry (OSD) said on Wednesday that there was a 17.2 percent of increase in the market of heavy commercial vehicles and 27.1 percent of increase in the market of light commercial vehicles between January and March 2010 when compared to the same period of 2009.
It added that however sharp decline in the bus market still continues and there is a 69 percent of decrease in the market in the mentioned period.
Total exports from the automotive industry rose by 67.3 percent and car exports increased by 52.9 percent between January and March 2010.
Total production in the automotive industry also increased by 81 percent in the same period.
