Worsfold dismisses Lynch conspiracy

West Coast coach John Worsfold has scoffed at talk Quinten Lynch is being overlooked
for selection because of his rumoured agreement with incoming AFL franchise Gold
Coast.
Lynch, who was dropped after tallying 16 possessions and two goals against Brisbane
in round one, will again play for West Perth this weekend, the fourth week running
he has been relegated to the WAFL.
Ashley Hansen has hardly set the world on fire as Lynch's replacement, kicking just
two goals in two matches, but Worsfold is content with the current forward set-up.
Worsfold said rumours linking Lynch to the Gold Coast were just that - rumours - and
they had no part to play in the burly forward being dropped after round one.
"I can't stop that rumour. I've heard it but I've only heard it in the last couple
of days," Worsfold said on Wednesday.
"Lynch was left out of the side a little bit before that so either I'm a mind reader
(or) a genius ... but I wouldn't claim that."
Defender Shannon Hurn has served his two-week suspension and will return for
Saturday's clash with Sydney at the SCG but the Eagles have lost Daniel Kerr for at
least 12 weeks with a hamstring injury.
Worsfold said Chris Masten, who has played predominantly as a small forward this
season, was a prime candidate to replace Kerr in the midfield.
The Swans will be without forward Ben McGlynn, who is out for 2-4 weeks with a quad
injury.
