President Ahmadinejad receives Turkey’s FM

Tehran, April 21, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad received visiting Turkey’s Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu here on Tuesday.
According to the report of Presidential Office Website on Tuesday evening, in the meeting, President Ahmadinejad called Iran and Turkey's relations 'friendly, deep and sustainable' adding that Tehran and Ankara, by increasing their cooperation and consultation, can play an effective role in regional and international developments.
The president went on to say that the two countries have plenty of cultural and historical commonalities and ties between Tehran and Ankara are expanding and satisfactory adding that promotion of cooperation will benefit both nations and strengthen security and stability in the region.
Referring to Tehran Disarmament Conference, Ahmadinejad underlined necessity of participation of Iran, Turkey and other independent countries for nuclear disarmament in the world and in the region.
Davutoglu, by referring to Iran’s position in the region and the world, said that Turkey gives special importance to increasing cooperation and consultation with Iran and considers such relations effective in both nations' progress and prosperity and stability in the region.
Turkish foreign minister underlined Iran’s rights to use peaceful nuclear energy and said that Turkey, like Iran, wants elimination of atomic weapons in the world and in the region and recent Tehran Conference in this concern was an important step toward this end./end
