Iran: All states must surrender to int’l will on disarmament

Tehran, April 20, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehman-Parast said Tuesday that every states should surrender to the will of international community regarding global disarmament.

He criticized some certain states that had announced that they would keep their nuclear weapons against the call of the international community for disarming all world countries from the fatal weapons.

“The world community is upset by the behavior of those states,” Mehman-Parast told reporters at his weekly press conference.

He stressed that a long way was ahead of the world nations to materialize their will on nuclear disarmament worldwide.

Referring to the recent International Conference on Disarmament and Non-Proliferation hosted by Tehran from April 17-18, the spokesman said the important issue was that the conference started a public move towards global disarmament.

The conference was attended by senior officials from about 60 world countries including China and Russia.

Mehman-Parast predicted that the new move of the world countries would face strong resistance by the nuclear-weapon-states who had announced they were not to eliminate their nuclear weapons.

The spokesman stressed that there is a long way to reach the goal of a nuclear-arms-free world./end
