Iran's army commandoes stage war games
Ahvaz, April 20, IRNA – Iran's army commandoes staged a war game titled 'Ashqan-e-Velyat' on the Karoun riverbank in Khuzestan Province on Monday.
The operation was conducted on both sides of the Ahvaz Suspended Bridge, on land, in the water and over rappel cables suspending in the air.
From the Shoushtar Brigade, 45 commandoes performed the war game in which boats and military equipment were used in an operation aimed at occupying the imaginary enemy’s position on the bridge.
Free falls from a helicopter into the boats in Karoun River was acted out by Shiraz Parachute Brigade 55 and the other phases of the war game included launching an invasion, rapid liberation and of the bridge and survival effort under tough conditions.
Lieutenant II Seyyed Ali Mehrabi from the South Operation Headquarters who was the military commander of the war game said that launching the war game was a necessity in order to maintain combat readiness of the military forces.
He added, “The commandoes participating at the war game are among the competent forces of the IRI Army, ready to defend the Islamic motherland side by side with the other military forces.”
The sacred defense era commander meanwhile congratulated the IRI Armey Day to the military forces stationed at the south operation region, arguing that the eight years of the Iraqi imposed war was a great test from which the country’s entire force emerged gallantly and prestigiously.
The army war game received broad and enthusiastic welcome of Ahvaz people and ended with a rapid reaction maneuver towards the eastern bank of the river./end
