WE WANT YOU TO KNOW MORE ABOUT MONGOLIA

TRADITIONAL SMOKING PIPE
For centuries, a pipe and tobacco pouch have been the sign of a real man. Possession of a rare pipe and a beautifully embroidered tobacco pouch were articles making the owner very proud and indicating status.
To have an excellent pipe meant no less in prestige that to be able to show off a good horse with a beautiful saddle and bridle. Smoking a pipe had specific symbolic aspects. Thus, when nomads met in the steppe, it was obligatory to smoke a pipe together. The ritual of sharing the puffing expressed greetings and indicated without words a mutual respect and friendship. This custom survives in the countryside.
Mongolian smoking pipes are made from various different materials and their shape also varies, but one ever-present element is the decoration, carved or inlaid.
