KPU's REQUEST FOR RP250 B ADDITIONAL FUND BASELESS, LEGISLATOR SAYS
Jakarta, July 6 (ANTARA) - A Rp250 billion additional fund requested by the General Election Commission (KPU) is totally baseless just because of a four day change in the schedule of election implementation from April 5 to 9, 2009.
"In the 2004 general election, the budget was little bit big on account of short preparation and limited time in distributing the logistics. It was still logical," Hj Andi Yuliani, a member of the House's Commission I, said as contacted through her cell phone on Sunday.
According to her, with a change of schedule from April 5 to 9, 2009, actually KPU could print and distribute the logistic under normal prices.
"Again, a Rp250 billion additional fund requested by KPU is totally groundless, as a shift of about four days will not affect the above mentioned items," she stressed.
This female politician of the National Mandate Party (PAN) also reminded that Rp250 billion was too big as an additional fund to finance a series of activities in four days.
With the extension of four days, no extra activity will be faced. "Hence I warn the secretary general of KPU not to ask for additional fund just on account of their fear over possible failure in implementing the general election," she said.
She reiterated that the extension of four days would not affect the paper printing cost as well as drive cost of the election.
