GCC Secretary General lauds Saudi-Qatari agreements

Riyadh, July 06 , SPA -- Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Abdul Rahman Bin Hamad Al-Atiyyah lauded Sunday agreements that Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabr Al Thani, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar and Prince Naif bin Abdul Aziz Minister of Interior signed Saturday in Jeddah on
completion of a border demarcation between the two fraternal
countries and the establishment of a Saudi and Qatari Coordinating
Council to promote political, security and economic relations.
The importance of the two agreements is that they stem from the wise and good directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud and his brother, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, which are aimed at supporting and strengthening the fraternal relations existing between the two countries, he said.
"This strengthens the joint desire as the chairmanship of the
Coordinating Council has been entrusted to the highest levels of
Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz, Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister
and Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General and Sheikh
Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Heir Apparent of Qatar.
He explained that these steps affirm the wise leadership's keenness to improve relations to the higher levels, and are in support of enhancing the march of joint action in the light of the GCC objectives for coordination and integration and inter-dependence
among member states in all fields, deepening ties and closer links
for the realization of the hopes and aspirations of the GCC citizens
toward a brighter tomorrow.
