Iran MP: Even a single bomb threatens world security
Tehran, April 15, IRNA – Chairman of Iran's Majlis National Security and foreign Policy said here on Wednesday that even a single nuclear bomb can endanger the world’s peace and security.
In a meeting with a member of French Senate’s Foreign and Defense Policy, Josette Durrieu, Alaeddin Boroujerdi added that the International Atomic Energy Agency has always verified the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program.
Referring to the two countries’ great capacities for developing bilateral ties, he hoped that mutual cooperation in all fields, especially in parliamentary domain, will develop.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he said that Iran favors a world devoid of nuclear and mass destruction weapons.
Stating that confidence is a two-way road, Boroujerdi added that Iran has fulfilled all the necessities for confidence-building and clarification of peaceful nuclear undertakings within the framework IAEA’s regulations.
Pointing to major regional issues such as terrorism, situations in Iraq and Afghanistan, Boroujerdi further noted that his country’s regional policy is to consolidate peace and security in the region.
Durrieu, for her part, said that Iran is a great country in the region.
“Iran’s role cannot be overlooked in safeguarding regional peace and security,” she noted.
Criticizing double-standard policies in the region, she described it as the cause of insecurity./end
