President: Iran to host annual int’l festival on Norouz

Tehran, April 13, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Monday that Norouz is now regarded as a national and international event and it is proposed that the country to host a brilliant national and international festival to mark such occasion.

Speaking in a special ceremony marking the services and facilities for domestic travels, he said the themes of most global conferences mainly deal with suppression, humiliation and trampling upon rights of world nations but Iran should host a unique festival to promote the cultural and humanitarian aspects of life.

World people could express themselves in such cultural events and occasions, said the president.

Referring to recent statements made by head of certain state posing threat to other countries with nuclear weapons, he said, "You offer nuclear bombs to world people but Iran offers them Nourouz, arts and humanity." /end
