Lebanon to host Int’l seminar on Persian, Arab comparative literature

Tehran, April 11, IRNA – International Seminar on Persian and Arab Comparative Literatures will be held in Lebanon in cooperation with Lebanon University, Mashhad’s Ferdowsi University and Iran’s Cultural Office in the country.
According to a report by the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, 30 Persian and Arab literatures instructors from nine countries will present lectures during the event slated for May 11-12.
The participating countries include Iran, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia and Afghanistan.
Theories of comparative literature, relationships between Persian and Arab literatures, intellectual, philosophical, mystical and literary interactions between the Persian and Arab literatures in different periods are among the basic topics to be discussed during the event.
Some 60 articles have so far been submitted to the secretariat of the event, of which 30 have been accepted for presence during the event.
Comparative literature is critical scholarship dealing with the literature of two or more different linguistic, cultural or national groups.
While most frequently practiced with works of different languages, it may also be performed on works of the same language if they originate from different nations or cultures where that language is spoken.
