MP: US angry at Iran’s new nuclear achievements
Tehran, April 11, IRNA – Reacting to recent hostile statements by US officials against Iran, head of majlis national security and foreign policy commission said US is angry at Iran’s progress and new achievements in nuclear technology.
On the sidelines of a meeting with Tehran Armenian Archbishop Sebouh Sarkissyan in a church here on Saturday afternoon, Allaeddin Boroujerdi told reporters that the west and the US should understand realities of Iranian nation and government and be interactive instead of provoking confrontation.
He said that the west still presumes that knowledge should be monopolized by a few countries but they should know that the world has changed.
Boroujerdi went on to say Iran has developed rapidly and achieved nuclear science and other new technologies in the past 30 years.
Responding to a question about the arrested Iranian reporter in Italy, the MP said that Foreign Ministry has summoned the Italian ambassador four times in this concern and Iran’s embassy in Italy is following the case too.
Replying to another question concerning the latest statement of US President Obama about nuclear attack threat against Iran, Boroujerdi said it was expected that the US government, after 60 years of Hiroshima and Nagasaki tragedies, move in a direction to remove these tragedies from human being memories, but we still witness that they are keeping such memories alive.
He expressed hope that the US president revise his literature promptly.
Concerning the aim of the meeting with Tehran archbishop, he said that majlis national security and foreign policy commission has decided to have direct contacts with the non-Muslim communities in Iran in the new year by attending their religious centers and holding negotiations with their leaders.
He added that considering our constitution which is a national convention, naturally such visits and connections should happen.
Boroujerdi said that proposed problems in the meeting will be considered by the commission.
Archbishop Sarkissyan, for his part, evaluated the meeting 'good' and added that with continuation of such meetings, the officials will get closer to the realities.
He said such a meeting indicates good will of our officials and problems will certainly be solved./end
