AZERBAIJAN`S DEFENCE MINISTER MEETS CZECH FOREIGN MINISTER IN BAKU
Baku, 05 July, (AzerTAj)- Azerbaijan`s Defense Minister Safar Abiyev met Friday with visiting Czech Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg.
S. Abiyev spoke of prospects for Azerbaijan`s integration into the European structures, as well as the military-political situation in region.
The Minister stressed necessity of expanding the Azerbaijani-Czech cooperation even
more. According to him, successful work on establishing military cooperation between
the two countries is underway.
The Minister also touched upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over
Nagorno-Karabakh. He said as a result of the dispute 20% of Azerbaijani territories
was occupied and more than one million innocent people were forced off their
homelands.
He added that mediation efforts to settle the conflict have yielded no results so far.
S. Abiyev underlined “liberation of the occupied territories in a military way is
not ruled out if this situation continues.â€
The Czech Minister voiced his attitude on the current situation in region. He said
his country supports Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity in the process of settlement
of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
