FLOODS INUNDATE HUNDREDS OF HOUSES IN BALIKPAPAN
Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, July 5 (ANTARA) - Floodwaters reaching a height of up to about one meter, inundated hundreds of houses in Balikpapan on early Saturday.
The flooding was triggered by incessant rains which had fallen since 1.00 am local time.
MT Haryono street, Balikpapan ring road, was the worst area hit by the flooding, forcing local residents to rescue their belongings.
The Balikpapan administration's Public Empowerment Office Head Sukaryanto urged residents living in flood and landslide prone areas to evacuate themselves to safer places.
