WE WANT YOU TO KNOW MORE ABOUT MONGOLIA

(continuation)
Today, urban folk tend to wear mostly European clothing, though in the countryside the older style prevails; the modern styles are inconvenient and impractical.
The deel has several uses: as a coat, as a blanket, and for decency when going to the toilet on the open steppe. In the cities, as people grow older and less dictated by fashion, especially women begin to appreciate the advantages of the deel and wear it, though trying to excel each other in material, elegance of cup and originality of trimmings.
There are three basic varieties of the deel, each for a particular season. The dan deel is very much like a dress, a frock cut in one piece from plain cloth without padding. Rural women wear a dan deel all year around, adding extra layers for warmth in the winter.
The terleg is a slightly padded deel, and the winter deel is well padded with sheepskin or cotton.
