President visits emergency shelter center in western Tehran

Tehran, April 6, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad visited Tuesday morning an emergency shelter center established in Azadi stadium in western Tehran.

The president is accompanied by a number of state officials and his cabinet members including ministers of interior, defense, energy and road and transportation.

The Azadi stadium’s emergency shelter center is consisted of three camps which would give shelter to some 10,000 people in critical conditions such as earthquakes and other natural disasters.

The camps are equipped with essential supportive services including tents, logistic equipment and relief storage spaces.

Some 25 emergency camps are presently established in the Iranian capital to give shelter to a total number of one million and 100,000 people.

Iran’s Red Crescent Society is in charge of organizing people’s sheltering in those centers in emergency conditions.

Some 33 different governmental organizations including the law enforcement force, social welfare organization and the sanitary; gas and power departments are said to be instructed to provide services for the centers in critical conditions./end
