Yemen to take part in meeting of AFESD governors

SANA'A, April 06 (Saba) - Yemen is
to take part in the annual meeting of the governors of Arab Fund for Economic and
Social
Development (AFESD) and the Arab financial institutions to be kicked off on
Wednesday in Khartoum, Sudan.
Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Abdul Karim al-Arhabi headed on
Monday for the Sudanese capital to represent Yemen in the meeting, which will focus
on
issues relating to strengthening the cooperation between the member states.
The meeting will also review ways to activate the fund to meet the Arab developing
countries' needs and to assist them to face the global challenges and changes
caused by
the international financial crisis.
Minister al-Arhabi is expected to hold talks with a number of AFESD officials over
the cooperation horizons between Yemen and the fund in addition to the fund's aid
to the
development projects in Yemen.
It is worth to mention that the AFESD is on the top of the list of the development
donor organizations supporting Yemen with about $ 700 million.
