206 publishers for children to participate at Tehran Book Fair

Tehran, April 6, IRNA -- Some 206 publishers for children and the young adults will take part at Tehran International Book Fair which is scheduled to be held at Imam Khomeini Mosalla (grand prayers ground) from May 5-15.
Member of the Book Fair for children and the young adults working group, Mohammad Taqi Haqbin told IRNA Monday that some 246 publishers for children and the young adults had applied for taking part at the event, of which 206 were found qualified for.
Some 243 pavilions have been devoted to the publishers in the field, he noted.
Tehran International Book Fair is Iran’s most important cultural event. It is the biggest general public and sales fair in Central Asia and the Middle East.
Given lack of a developed book distribution system, it is the most important sales market for Persian-language books from the entire Central Asian region.
It is also an important market for Arab publishing companies and the local representatives of western publishing companies.
Apart from its commercial significance, the event is culturally important too./end
