Official: Tehran confab will humiliate colonial powers

Tehran, April 6, IRNA – Deputy Foreign Minister for Education and Research Mohammad Bagher Khorramshad said on Monday that the western countries have made hue and cry to prevent Tehran from holding international conference on nuclear disarmament.

Speaking to IRNA, he said the western countries fear that Tehran’s conference would bring under question their sincerity at international community.

Iran has invited the global community to an international conference in Tehran to urge them all to destroy their nuclear weapons, he said.

Tehran is to host an international conference on nuclear disarmament from April 17-18, he said.

The signatories to NPT have ignored their pledges and instead produced more nuclear weapons and even provide the Zionist regime with such weapons while at the same time trying to deprive others of having such technology, he said.

Tehran conference is to voice world nations' call for elimination of nuclear weapons, he said.

The motto of the conference would be “Nuclear energy for all and nuclear weapons for none” he pointed out.

The importance of nuclear energy for world nations is very vital and should not be ignored, he said.

A few colonial powers seek to monopolize production of nuclear energy and deprive other of it, he said.

The Islamic Republic of Iran seeks a world free from nuclear weapons, he said.

It is among legitimate rights of every nation to make use of nuclear technology and no one is authorized to deprive them of such a privilege, Khorramshad said.

The Islamic Republic of Iran with reliance on its talented youth has acquired nuclear technology, he said./end
