China to prepare int'l bourse for foreign companies

By Kim Young-gyo
HONG KONG, April 5 (Yonhap) -- China will start preparations to launch a special
bourse where foreign companies can be listed, according to China's central bank
Monday.
The People's Bank of China said in its report "International Financial Markets in
2009" that it will work on establishing an "international bourse" so shares in
companies with foreign capital can be issued and traded.
The international bourse will be set up at the Shanghai Stock Exchange. The other
two stock exchanges operating in China are the Shenzhen Stock Exchange and the
Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
"The (People's) Bank of China will actively and steadily move toward opening up
financial markets," it said.
The bank also said the Chinese government should resolutely continue to actively
participate in international and regional economic and financial cooperation.
It said it will encourage China's further participation in financial markets
outside the country.
