Fuel swap should not be used as lever against other nations: Iran

Beijing, April 4, IRNA – Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili said here on Sunday that nuclear fuel swap should be considered as bilateral cooperation for peaceful nuclear activities.

Talking to IRNA at the Beijing airport, at the end of his three-day visit to China, he said the issue should not be used as a lever to exert pressure on nations.

On talks with the Group 5+1, Jalili said in its package of proposals to the group, Tehran voiced its readiness to remove international concerns regarding its peaceful nuclear program through cooperation and interactions.

He added that bilateral dialogue would help establish global peace, stability and security.

Jalili reiterated that Tehran still is ready to continue talks with representatives of the Group 5+1.

On his visit to China, he added that his trip was made at the official invitation of the Chinese government.

Expressing satisfaction with his meetings with senior Chinese officials, he said issues of mutual interest as well as the latest regional and international developments were reviewed by the two sides.

Tehran and Beijing enjoy identical views regarding several international issues, he said, adding that there are appropriate grounds for expansion of all-out bilateral cooperation between the two states.

Jalili, who was on a three-day official visit to Beijing, left the city for Tehran this morning./end
