Ahmadinejad's envoy confers with UAE prime minister

Dubai, April 3, IRNA – Esfandiar Rahim Mashaei, Special Envoy of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) discussed issues of mutual interest with UAE Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid al-Maktoum here on Friday afternoon.
In the meeting, the two sides discussed expansion of ties and joint investment in economic sector.
Sheikh Mohammad underlined that Iran and the UAE are two important trade partners for each other.
He added that the Emirate of Dubai needs Iran's imports and also is exporting its merchandise through Iran to Afghanistan and other central Asian countries.
The two sides called for more communication between officials of both countries in addition to holding a joint commission once a year.
They also called for eliminating obstacles on the way of bilateral ties development and said the two sides, as good neighbors, should help each other during hard times.
Mashaei arrived in UAE on Friday morning to submit President Ahmadinejad's message of condolence to the president of the UAE Sheikh Kalifa bin Zayed al-Nahyan on demise of his younger brother Sheikh Ahmed bin Zayed al-Nahyan who died in a plane crash in Morocco.
He also met with UAE Minister without portfolio in Economic Affairs Obaid Humaid al-Tayer./end
