Hijacked ship carrying orange is not Iran's

Tehran, March 30, IRNA – The vessel carrying orange which has been hijacked by pirates does not belong to Iran.

According to a website run by the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines, the ship which was sailing towards Iran’s Bushehr port city carried the banner of Bermuda and belonged to a company in the Virgin Islands.

The ship, named Talca, sailed off Egypt’s Sokhna port on March 23 and was hijacked by pirates 120 miles from Oman Sea coast out of the secure corridor.

It was carrying five thousand tons of orange to Iran.

25 crew members, including 23 Sri Lankans, one Pilipino and one Syrian, worked on the vessel./end
