House dissolution to halt Thai economic growth, says finance minister
BANGKOK, March 30 (TNA) - Finance Minister Korn Chatikavanij on Monday allowed that the driving force for Thailand's economic growth by investment projects under the state budget support of around Bt400 billion would stumble if the House of Representatives were to be dissolved now.
Mr Korn said it would take about six months for any new government to establish an investment strategy following the House dissolution.
Under such circumstances, the country would lose an opportunity to drive the economy under the state-supported schemes.
Should there be a change in the government, continuation of the farmer income guarantee project initiated by the current government could not be guaranteed.
Actually, he said, Thailand had a great opportunity to benefit from the global economic recovery since the government had prepared and implemented strategies to stimulate the economy efficiently.
The ongoing political conflicts are the only deterrent to the government's efforts to take advantage of the global economic recovery to drive the country's economic growth. (TNA)
